Adding rules, roles and administrators to my website

Hi ,

I am trying to add users, rules, roles and administrators to my website, of course on my local server everything was ok, but now I can't login with my users on the server.

Basicly I created users and rules on my comp, and copied the App_data DB file to the root\app_data that is on the server(Using godaddy).

I understand that if the data is on the server it is no longer uses the DB in the root\app_data , but only the asp tables which are on MSSQL database.

I need help in copying the data from the data base in the App_data folder to the hosting database. I couldn't find the answers in the godaddy website help nor how to use their stored procedures to insert all the above.

(if I need to use the stored procedures please explain how)

Thanks very much for your help

Hi yrcaesar,

From the description, I understand you want to copy the datas from an absolute database (mdf, ldf) to a SQL Server on the server. If I have misunderstood your concern, please feel free to let me know.

I think you can simply attach the database for this scenario. Copy the database files to the server. Attach the database by right click "Databases" node in SQL Server Management Studio and select "Attach…" in the content menu.

Adding new subscription to SQL Server 2005s Local Subscriptions fails...

Hi everyone,

I am trying to add a new subscription to the local subscriptions of a SQL Server 2005. As soon as I click on SERVER_NAME -> Replication -> Local Replications -> New Subscription, I get the following error message:

TITLE: New Subscription Wizard

Btw, I am using the SQL Server Management Studio.

From the error message, it appears that the replication components are not installed on the machine. Can you install the components and try again?|||

Hi Mahesh,

they are installed. Could this be a rights related issue?

Thanks,
Olcay

Yes, it is then a permissions related issue.

What user is trying to create the subscription? This user should be the dbo of the subscrber database and atleast PAL (publication access list) user on the publication and publisher database.

adding new objects to sql server

We have an instance of sql running on one box. We're going to be making a copy of a database on another server. I've been working on a local copy of the db and I've had to add a few new stored procedures and tables along with some fts catalogs. When we set up the copy on the production server, I figured I'd set up the new version that I've been working on so it has the latest structures in place. However, we then have to pull all the data over from the existing database to the new one. Obviously the new tables won't get any data input from the pull, but aside from creating a dtsx project to pull it all over, is there any other way to do it a little easier and faster? Thanks.you can create a backup of your test db and restore it to the production server.|||how about snapshot replication

This may be by design. A very simple workaround, create a local group on
your server running SQL Server, then add your domain global group into the
local group on your server. Then, add the (server) local group to the SQL
Server login and give it the proper db permissions...

adding data entered in to web textbox to rdlc report

I have a report services report that I created in local mode that takes data from a dataset and creates a report off of it. I need to add a field into the report that shows some of the data that the user enters in to the textboxes on the web page. Can someone explain to me how to do this or point me to a resource that will show me. Thanks!!

Pass the textbox data as parameters to your report. This entails simply loading the textbox(es) data into a parameter array & passing it to your report. Cheers!

Adding a User account

I have a user that is a local user on a machine. Is it possible that it coul
d
access SQL server on another machine, if they are both under the same domain
.
E.g.
User1 is on Box1
SQL Server is on Box2
Box1 and Box2 are both part of the Boxes domain.
Can I give User1 permission to access to a database on the Box2 SQL Server
without actually making User1 part of the Boxes domain as a user on its doma
inDoes this local user in Box1 has a valid domain user login in the Boxes
domain?
Anith|||No. User1 is only a user in Box1

authentication.

Server authentication with a valid SQL login and password instead.
