Adding new subscription to SQL Server 2005s Local Subscriptions fails...

Hi everyone,

I am trying to add a new subscription to the local subscriptions of a SQL Server 2005. As soon as I click on SERVER_NAME -> Replication -> Local Replications -> New Subscription, I get the following error message:

TITLE: New Subscription Wizard
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio is unable to access replication components because replication is not installed on this instance of SQL Server. For information about installing replication, see the topic Installing Replication in SQL Server Books Online.

For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.1399.06&EvtSrc=Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.ReplUtilitiesErrorSR&EvtID=ReplicationNotInstalled&LinkId=20476
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Die EXECUTE-Berechtigung wurde für das 'sp_MS_replication_installed'-Objekt, 'mssqlsystemresource'-Datenbank, 'sys'-Schema verweigert. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 229)
Translated from German to english:

For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.1399&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=229&LinkId=20476
BUTTONS:

OK

Btw, I am using the SQL Server Management Studio.
Thanks,
Olcay

From the error message, it appears that the replication components are not installed on the machine. Can you install the components and try again?|||

Hi Mahesh,

they are installed. Could this be a rights related issue?

Thanks,
Olcay

Yes, it is then a permissions related issue.

What user is trying to create the subscription? This user should be the dbo of the subscrber database and atleast PAL (publication access list) user on the publication and publisher database.

Adding Measures to Report - receive error

Hello,

My report, which has a matrix and a chart work fine. Then...

I click on the Data tab, drag a measure into the results grid. At this point I haven't added the new measure to the matrix or anything in Layout.

I click the Preview tab and get the following message: "The definition of the report XXX is invalid. More than one data set, data region, or grouing in the report has the name 'YYY'. Data set, data region and grouping names must be unique within a report.

Ok, I get the point. But why and how would adding a measure give me this issue? Where can I even find where this is being duplicated?

The message refers to a name that is a parameter, and I don't see anything in there that might cause this.

Thank you for the help.

-Gumbatman

I've just got this same message myself - and am trying to figure it out. I had a report that was working fine in Preview...then I went to try to add a parameter, couldn't get it to work so deleted it. Now the report won't preview at all...keep getting this message.

I've even deleted ALL of the layout fields - but still get the error.

The DATA tab retrieves my data fine without a problem.

Help please ?

Adding DataSet as DataSource to Report Published on Report Server from ClientSide

Hi

I am Creating Click Once Windows Application with Reporting Services 2005.I have created Report and Published on Report Server. In my windows application I am successfully able to view my published report through report viewer control.

Now in my application I am getting a dataset from my custom webservice. I want this dataset data to be added to my report as datasource at runtime on Client Side ,as my report is on Report Server.

waiting for help!!

Thanks in Advance

Pankaj

The report server does not support passing in data sets for reports to run with. You could use the Viewer control in local mode and have the viewer show the report with that data set. Of course by doing this you would loose all of the server add ons (client print for the web control, subscriptions, security, etc).

Hi

Thanks for suggession. But will you please tell me which functions/class I have to use to set my new dataset as datasource to my report at client side.as you have mentioned to use reportviewer as localmode.will you please clearly specify.

Thanks

Hi Daniel

Or is it possible to get report from reportserver at client side and make it as local report and use it as local report and add datasources to it.?

You can dynamically set the data set using .LocalReport.DataSources.Add. If you look on http://www.gotreportviewer.com/ you will find examples to go by.

You may also want to look into writing a custom Data Processing Extension. By doing this, any report on the server could use your data extension to populate it's data. You can find more information here http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms154655.aspx.

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish so it's hard to say which is the best approach for your problem.

Adding a time stamp to the records

I have a shopping cart that will get full from time to time because
customers click out of the site before they confirm their purchase,
therefore leaving a full cart behind. I'd like to have a timestamp on
this table, so that I can delete anything that I find is more than a day
old.

How can I do this?

Thanks,

Bill

Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!Hi

You could use a not null datetime field and specify the default as
getdate(). This will insert the current date/time when the record is
created. and you will not have to specify a value. You can then run a
scheduled task (job) that checks for entries older than a given date.
