Additive or non-additive dimension depending on the measure group

Hi,

I have a dimension called [Year of Account]. For most of my measure groups all values are additive over this dimension - no problem there.

Unfortunately I have one measure group that is NOT additive over this dimension.

I wanted to deal with this by removing the [Year of Account].[All] member from the dimension but I only want to remove it for this one measure group. As far as I know that's not possible. (Or am I wrong?)

Any other ideas about how I should deal with this? Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Jamie

I think you are probably right, one possible work around would be to use an MDX script assignment to override the value in the relevant subcube so that the users did not see misleading information.

eg.

([Year of Account].[All] ,MEASUREGROUPMEASURES(MeasureGroupName)) = "NA";

OR

([Year of Account].[All] ,MEASUREGROUPMEASURES(MeasureGroupName)) = null;

Adding users to log-shipped DB

Hallo!
After I configure log shipping between databases on primary server A and
secondary server B, is it possible to add new users or groups and give them
access to log-shipped DB on server B only? Since the DB on server B would be
in read-only mode I'm not sure if that would allow me to add users to that
DB.
I would like a group of users to have read access to log shipped DB on
server B so they can run reports,
but they should not have any access to that DB on server A.
Thanks
Tom
You can make NO changes on Server B or it will break the log shipping..After
having thought about this for a few minutes, I don;t think you can do what
you wish... You must add the users to server A, that will get shipped to
server B. If you delete the users or change permissions on Server A, that
will also go to Server B...
It is a great problem to think about, and it seems that you shouldn't be
stuck, but I think you may be... ( Maybe Ron Talmage is watching and will
have a suggestion... He is very good at log shipping.)

Adding User groups Wont work

Hello,
We are using reporting services for about 6 months now and granting
access to windows users works great. I cant seem to get user groups to
work however. I am not a expert on windows users/groups so I dont
really know what to check.
Say for example we have a user group called "Activations" I type the
name and it enters correctly, and shows the group has access to a
report. Then if I look at the group in MS Outlook and see what users a
Group has it shows me the users. But if they try and access the report
they get a error saying they dont have access. Only way I can get it to
work is by adding the usernames one-by-one.
Ona a side note the group "Everyone" seems to work fine. Has anyone
else had any problems or know what I could check.
Thanks,
EddieI should also say that the user groups I want to add are domain user
groups - not local. But wouldnt RS be able to user domain user groups?

I have several domain groups plus some individual users and what I have done
is added a local group (like Reports) to this local group I add the
individual users and the domain groups. Then I assign this local group to
the Browser role.

Adding logins and permissions

Hi,
I am at a company with 18 employees and I have 11-12 databases in SQL server. I can't seem to give logins and permissions to groups. Is there a simpler way, or do I have to add every single employee to each database and give permissions?
You may create roles (it's a group analogue) within databases and then assign your employees to these groups. There are no serverwide groups except of builtin server roles.

Adding Grand Total to a Column Group in a Matrix. Please Help!

Hello Guys,

I am working on a matrix report which has several row groups and 1 column group. After execution, the column group wil end up with several columns containg numeric counts. I would like to have the grand total for each "column group" column as a last row on this report.

For row groups you can just right click "Subtotal", but that is not possible for column group. Could someone please help me to find a clever way of accomplishing this, please. Thank you so much for your help!

For column groups, you can also just right click "Subtotal". Maybe you are clicking the wrong box or it isn't truly a column group or you just aren't seeing it.

Look around a bit more.

|||

You're right, however that will just give me totals on the right side of the matrix (row totals). What I would like to have is a grand total column(s) at the bottom of the matrix (basically a grand total for all values in each of the "column grouping" columns). Is there a way to accomplish that? Thank you for your expertise.

|||

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking for.

In order to get row totals on the right side of the matrix, you right click a column and select subtotal.

In order to get column totals at the bottom of the matrix, you right click a row and select subtotal.

|||

You should be able to achieve this is you add a subtotal on the outermost (leftmost) row group.

The reason you sometimes cannot add a subtotal is to do with static groups which don't support subtotals. These are created when you drag more than one column (measure) from your dataset to the details portion of the matrix (rows or columns).

It would help if you put together some sample data and what you would like to achieve as output. Do this in Excel and copy paste it into a post. That way we'll be able to help more affectively.

Adam, you're the greatest!

Adding a subtotal to the leftmost row group did the trick. Thank you so much.

??€?§Q? , matrix wouldn't let me add the subtotal to the bottom right cell (Data), where I needed the totals to show. Adam's suggestion worked. I thought doing that would just add the total for the values of that rowgroup - but now I know better Smile

Thank you for your help, guys.

Adding columns to a Matrix report that don't belong to the matrix columns groups

Can we do this?

Adding more columns in a matrix report that don’t

belong to the columns drilldown dimensions…

That is, for example, having the following report:

Product Family

Product

Country City Number of units sold

Then I

would add some ratios, that is, Units Sold/Months (sold per month) and other that

is the average for Product Family (Units Sold/Number of Product Family), for putting an example… some

columns should be precalculated prior to the report so do not get into it, the

real problem I don’t see how to solve is adding one or two columns for showing

these calculated column that doesn’t depend on the column groups but they do

for the rows groups…

Any guidance

on that?

The only

way I am seeing by now is to set it as two different reports, and that is not

what my client wants…

Many

thanks,
Jose

I have found one way of doing this, yet I have yet to implement it... by now I have eliminated the matrix report and only doing a normal one with drilldown at the row level.

The way of doing this, exposed on some articles through the web is to put a higher level group that is unique and there insert the corresponding columns..

Well if anybody knows of a nicer way to do this, please say so...|||

Hi

Saw this and i dont know if this is what your looking for
but it seemes like you may be able to implement this.

Quote Robert Bruckner MSFT :

" You can use the InScope function to distinguish subtotal cells from other cells. Please check the MSDN documentation about the InScope function:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/RSCREATE/htm/rcr_creating_expressions_v1_0jmt.asp
With InScope you can determine the current scope of a matrix cell (e.g. in subtotal or not). You would use an IIF-expression to set the cell expression based on the InScope return values. Note: a matrix cell is "in scope" of column and row groupings, so you need at least two InScope function calls in the case where you have one dynamic row and one dynamic column grouping. E.g.

=iif(InScope("ColumnGroup1"), iif(InScope("RowGroup1"), "In Cell", "In Subtotal of RowGroup1"), iif(InScope("RowGroup1"), "In Subtotal of ColumnGroup1", "In Subtotal of entire matrix"))

Replace "In Cell" with =Sum(Fields!Amount.Value)
Replace "In Subtotal..." with =Avg(Fields!Amount.Value)

However, note that since the subtotal cells share the same cell definition as the group instance cells, adding two "subtotals" (one for "Total", the other for "AVG") at the same level is not supported. One way of solving this is to add a rectangle into the matrix cell and use two textboxes to show the total and the average. Then use conditional visibility on the average textbox to only have it visible for subtotals."

Sorry Robert for quoting you, I couldn't get the thread linked...

G

|||thanks!!

Sorry I already tried to use InScope... I also tried to set up a higher grouping but that only does more confusion and servers for only one more value, when I need three or four... not quite desirable...

Thanks so much for your answer!
